Graded deformation in an Fe-Mn-Al-C steel under bending fatigue
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cyclic behavior of a high-Mn austenitic steel with fine (~2 µm) and larger (~5 grains was investigated under high-cycle bending fatigue at room temperature. Microhardness initially increased as sign cyclic hardening until 20,000 cycles saturated thereafter. Deformation mechanisms varied widely in grains, depending on their sizes. Stacking faults were predominant the while interconnected dislocation cells observed within grains. Dislocation densities estimated by X-ray diffraction relatively low ~1014 m−2.

In the present study, the evolution of microstructure in laser-welded joints of ferrite-based dual-phase Fe-Al-Mn-C steel sheets was analyzed and its effect on the mechanical properties of the joints was investigated. Laser welding was performed using different powers and welding speeds to attain different heat inputs. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) examinations and hardness measuremen...
متن کاملBending Fatigue Failures in Valve Steel
In the present paper the effect of defects (viz. pits, gouges and oxide inclusions) will be reported. Although certain defects were uniformly distributed over the specimen surface, the majority of all fractures started in the edge region. An explanation to this behaviour is presented in terms of stress enhancement in the edge regions due to edge deflections.
متن کاملAn Efficient Finite Element Formulation Based on Deformation Approach for Bending of Functionally Graded Beams
Finite element formulations based generally on classical beam theories such as Euler-Bernoulli or Timoshenko. Sometimes, these two formulations could be problematic expressed in terms of restrictions of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, in case of thicker beams due to non-consideration of transverse shear; phenomenon that is known as shear locking characterized the Timoshenko beam theory, in case of...
متن کاملSensitivity Analysis of Fatigue Behaviour of Steel Structure under In-Plane Bending∗
Abstract. The aim of the present paper is to analyse the influence of some input quantities on the fatigue resistance of a steel structure. The steel element subjected to many times repeated in-plane bending moment was analysed. The fatigue resistance was defined as the number of cycles causing the initial crack size propagation up to the critical size. The variability influence of input random...
